This position serves as Manager for Parking and Transportation on all campuses of the University of Colorado Denver (UCD) and is responsible for directing, monitoring, and providing oversight for all Parking and Transportation services for faculty, staff, students as well as patients and visitors. Areas of responsibility include: parking facilities (garages and surface lots); transportation services (shuttle and circulator); customer service operations (issuing parking permits, collection of fees and compliance with policies and rules); support and coordination of special events; and procurement, inventory management, installation and maintenance of equipment. Provides oversight and direction to the outside contractor that manages the Parking and Shuttle operations ensuring they are complying with all fiscal, customer service, and enforcement expectations including revenue control and the reconciliation function of data between parking systems and other financial systems. Position is responsible for all planning and resource allocation for new parking facilities, program plans, and coordination of both with appropriate UCD staff and outside entities and assumes a leadership role in the development of Request for Proposals and the selection process of outside contractors and the procurement of equipment, and development and management of a computerized parking and transportation program. Provides relevant data and information such as parking space counts, permit holder counts by type, revenue and expense information in order to assess potential operational improvements, financial status, financial projections, rate setting, budget constraints and compliance with fiscal rules and procedures. Position provides information about Parking and Transportation services to customers through various means including: attending and presenting at informational meetings; maintaining a current website; designing and distributing pamphlets, brochures, and maps; and ensuring that appropriate signage for way finding and parking regulations are clear and functional. Plans and coordinates parking and transportation for Special Events including Commencement activities. The position handles and resolves customer service special requests and concerns in an effective and professional manner. Provides valuable input and actively participates in all meetings and committees that interface with Parking and Transportation issues including, but not limited to the TMA, Traffic and Logistics meetings. Performs other duties as assigned including doing special projects and responding to emergencies such as weather related emergencies that create access problems for the campuses.  

Required Education/Experience/Skills (Minimum Qualifications)

Minimum qualifications include a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in business, public administration, or related area. Minimum of five years of work experience showing progressively responsible experience in the administration of parking and transportation services or related activities, including financial management experience.  

Desired qualifications

Experience working in an academic, health care, or public sector organization.

Salary Range: $56,800 - $82,000 commensurate with background and experience.

Position Opening - Assistant Director of Public Parking at the University of Minnesota

Are you ready to take on the challenge of leading the public parking program for a progressive Big 10 university in a major metropolitan area?

We currently seek an innovative, experienced go-getter to join our high performance transportation team. The Assistant Director of Public Parking directs, manages and evaluates operations for the University public parking program across a complex organization with multiple and diverse constituents. This is an annual 12-month renewable staff position within Parking and Transportation Services (PTS), a self-supporting department within Auxiliary Services, a division of University Services at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. The Assistant Director of Public Parking reports directly to the associate director of PTS. Starting salary will be approximately $75K to $85K, depending upon qualifications.

Principal Responsibilities
- Manage 30 full-time employees including civil service supervisors and bargaining unit staff/parking attendants, and indirect supervision of approximately 150 student employees.
- Work with faculty, staff, department representative and non-University groups and agencies to meet on-campus parking needs for conferences, seminars and other events.
- Identify issues and concerns, efficiently solve operational problems, and initiate appropriate actions as required.
- Work with finance to develop and administer annual budget, applying prudent fiscal management and oversight of department resources.
- Maintain fiscal integrity by monitoring predetermined margins with an emphasis on sound cash control procedures. Comply with all University financial and operational conduct policies and enforce proper financial procedures.
- Prepare quarterly reports for executive director and contribute to the annual report.
- Prepare monthly reports for the associate director.
- Assist in developing and implementing department policy, processes and procedures.
- Implement and direct department programs and initiatives.
- Represent the executive director and/or associate director on various University committees and task forces.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field.
- Five years of management level parking experience.
- Experience directing large scale parking operations (10-20,000 spaces) and events.
- Cash control experience and knowledge of access/revenue.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing.
- Proven effective management skills related to supervising and developing a large and diverse staff.
- Experienced in working with labor contracts.
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, work efficiently and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of and experience with university policies, systems and procedures.
- Ability to function in a collaborative and collegial environment.
- Previous experience in a university setting with a large parking operation.
